A 42-year-old man who suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted in Beckenham last month has died.

The victim died on Friday, November 12, after spending more than three weeks in a critical condition following the incident on Sunday, October 17.

Officers were called to the High Street shortly after 1.20am, attending alongside the ambulance service.

The victim was treated at the scene before being rushed to a south London hospital, where he remained in a critical condition. His next of kin were informed.

A 26-year-old man attended a south London police station on Monday, October 18, after an appeal for information.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and subsequently bailed to a date in mid-November.

He has not been arrested in connection with any additional offences at this stage.

Police are still keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the assault.
