There are severe delays on the M25 around the Dartford Tunnel, with traffic backed up for around 10 miles.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the Dartford Crossing after a 'police incident', and delays have hit across south east London and north Kent this morning.

National Highways England South East warned there had been a "police incident" on the A282 near the Dartford Crossing, and a number of areas are reporting heavy congestion, excessive for even peak congestion levels.

The police incident saw both tunnels at Dartford Crossing closed at around 7am this morning, which saw cars stationary for over an hour.

There are reports of long delays at the Blackwall Tunnel too, with heavy traffic queueing for three miles with congestion going back to the Eltham Tunnel.

A two-car collision has added to traffic woes, with Essex Police called before 5am this morning after the crash on the anti-clockwise M25 close to junction 31.

The Woolwich Ferry is also not in operation due to more strike action, which is adding to the congestion.
