The latest case rates have been released for every local authority area in England and in most of them, infections are falling.

Nationally, 310 out of the 377 local areas in England (82 per cent) have seen a fall in cases, and 67 (18 per cent) have seen a rise.

These figures are accurate for the seven days to September 12 – with most recent days excluded for accuracy.

They are compared with a week prior – the seven days to September 5 The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Bexley

The coronavirus rate in Bexley has fallen to 235.9 (588 cases) from 257.9 (643 cases).

Bromley

Rates in Bromley have dropped from 278.9 (928 cases) to 226.3 (753 cases).

Greenwich

The rate in Greenwich is 200.3 (579 cases), having fallen from 227.7 (658 cases).

Lewisham

Lewisham’s rates have dropped to 211.3 (645 cases) from 222.4 (679 cases).

Southwark

The Covid rate in Southwark is 176.2 (564 cases), with a fall from 237.8 (761 cases).

Dartford

Nearby in Dartford, the case rate has fallen from 298.1 (340 cases) to 206.9 (236 cases).

The highest rates are all in Scotland.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency using data published on September 16 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
