A Met Police detective, head of finance, client relationship manager and a Shared Lives co-ordinator are the bakers from London who will be taking part in the latest series of the Great British Bake Off.

Ahead of the 12th series launching on Tuesday 21 September, the GBBO Twitter account revealed its bakers who would be taking part in the popular Channel 4 show - and four of them are from London.

Amanda is a 56-year-old Met Police detective, and her cooking is inspired by her Greek-Cypriot heritage.

Her speciality is painting directly onto her cakes, with her love for baking coming from being taught by her paternal auntie.

Another one of the London contestants also takes a Greek-Cypriot influence into their baking.

George is a 34-year-old Shared Lives co-ordinator, and found food to be a big part of his life amongst his close-knit family.

Now married with three kids and a Japanese dancing Spitz dog called Eli, George wants to bring his distinct style to the Bake off tent, which includes the frequent use of home-grown herbs.

Crystelle is the next one to come up, and she was born in north-west London to Kenyan-born Portuguese-Goan parents.

As a result she has a lot of global influences to experiment with in her cooking.

She only began seriously baking three years ago, and is now in a great position to show off her skills.

Last, but not least, there is Jairzeno.

The 51-year-old is a head of finance in London, and moved there from Trinidad 15 years ago.

He frequently uses guava and chocolate in his recipes, as well as Caribbean spices to create something a little different with his meals.

In his spare time, Jairzeno also runs marathons.

Those four will be going up against people from all walks of life, including a software developer, psychology student and a retired midwife.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the series has been yet again filmed in a Covid secure bubble.

Hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will return, among with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

The Great British Bake Off starts on Channel 4 on Tuesday September 21.
