Five able-bodied drivers have been fined more than £3,000 after they were caught taking advantage of Blue Badges they were not entitled to in Bromley.

The range of offences included the display of stolen badges, badges belonging to holders not present and using a badge after the holder died.

To qualify for a Blue Badge, which allows them priority parking, a person must have a permanent and substantial disability that causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking.

The come with conditions, such as that holders must never allow friends or relatives to use the badge to run an errand on their behalf.

Tuskerdirect Limited of Hatters Lane, Watford, failed to provide details of the vehicle hirer following a penalty charge notice which was issued because the Blue Badge on display within the vehicle had been cancelled as reported lost.

Mr Giorgos Dritsas of West Green Road, Haringey, displayed a Blue Badge in a stolen vehicle.

Miss Jordan Osaslee of Church Road, Crystal Palace displayed a counterfeit Blue Badge.

Ms Nicola Cattle of Golden Lane Estate, EC1, displayed a Blue Badge that had been cancelled as the holder had passed away.

Mr Charlie Holland of Woodcote Drive, Orpington, also displayed a Blue Badge that had been cancelled as the holder had passed away.

Since January of this year, more than 20 motorists have been prosecuted for similar Blue Badge misuse related offences in Bromley.
