A man in Dartford Town Centre decided to make off from security after shoplifting.
CCTV was then able to lead a Dartford police town team officer to his location.
The man was "swiftly" caught and detained with help from members of the public.
Kent Police said he has been "dealt with for theft offences".

Kent Police Dartford revealed what had happened in a post on social media.
It said: "A male in #Dartford Town Centre decided to make off from security after #Shoplifting, CCTV lead #TownTeam Officer to his location where he was swiftly caught & detained with great help from a members of public.
"Male dealt with for theft offences. #NotInOurTown #SaferDartford."
