At least eight fire engines and around 60 fire fighters tackled a fire that broke out at an apartment building on the Isle of Dogs this evening (Thursday, August 26).
Reports surfaced on social media on Thursday evening, with witnesses reporting an emergency services presence and smoke at an apartment building on the Isle of Dogs.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) later announced that they were in attendance after being called to a fire at Crossharbour Plaza.

In a short tweet describing the incident, an LFB spokesperson said at 6.37pm:
"Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a fire at an apartment at Crossharbour Plaza on the #IsleofDogs..."
A further update issued by LFB at 7.18pm said that they had successfully brought the fire, which struck a sauna at a private gym in the building, under control:
"Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a sauna in a private gym on Crossharbour Plaza, on the Isle of Dogs.
"A small part of the sauna on the twentieth floor is damaged by fire.
"Station Commander Nathan Hobson is at the scene, he said: 'There is a build up of traffic in the area and the public are advised to avoid the area for the next few hours.'
"The Brigade was called at 1759 and the incident was under control by 1908."
