A fire broke out in a house in Orpington late on Saturday night.

Four engines and around 25 firefighters attended the house fire in Stapleton Road at around 10.25pm.

The electrical and gas intake in the front porch of the detached house was damaged.

Part of the roof was also damaged.

London Fire Brigade isolated the gas supply and put a cordon in place as a precaution.

The fire was under control by 12.24am on Sunday.

There were no reports of any injuries and the fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by an electrical event in a consumer unit.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Stapleton Road in Orpington.

"The electrical and gas intake in the front porch of a detached house was damaged by fire.

"Part of the roof space was also damaged by the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.

"The gas supply was isolated and a cordon was put in place as a precaution whilst crews made the scene safe.

"The Brigade was called at 2223 and the fire was under control by 0024.

"Fire crews from Orpington and Sidcup fire stations attended the scene.

"The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by an electrical event in a consumer unit."
