A 76-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a four-car crash left a Dartford father dead and his son injured in hospital.
The incident saw a collision between a blue Ford Fiesta, a white Renault Master, a silver Toyota Estima and a grey Honda on the A267 at Frant at about 11.11am on Wednesday, August 18.
A 36-year-old man from Dartford, Kent, who was driving the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
His son and sole passenger - a two-year-old also from Dartford, sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London.
Sussex Police have been working to trace the driver of one of the vehicles and yesterday officers took a 76-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells into custody.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and for failing to stop after a road accident.
The boy is still in hospital and remains in critical condition, and police said a section of the road had been temporarily closed while investigations take place.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "We'd like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we carried out vital investigative work at the scene."
Police are now urging any witnesses to the crash to come forward. This includes people who may have captured any of the vehicles on dashcam.
