A pop-up cinema is screening classic British films after sunset in Beckenham Place Park this summer.

Sunset Screening Sessions is presenting a diverse programme of ten films each Friday night in the Homestead Café, running until September 10.

An impressive outdoor screen measuring 9x7 metres has erected inside the restored Georgian stable’s patio area, at the heart of Lewisham’s largest park.

A spokesperson for Sunset Screening Sessions said: “Diversity is the central pillar to our film selection.

“Our 10 films paint a colourful and culturally vibrant picture of Britain.

“They include comedy, horror, romance, LGBT, Black, arthouse cinema and much more, dating from 1928 all the way to the present.

“Highlights includes a live music score (The Lodger), a Q&A with the iconic Julien Temple (Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan) and a dog-friendly screening (23 Walks).

“All but one of the films (I Am Not A Witch) are set either entirely or partly in London, some of them not far from Beckenham Place Park itself.

“You will feel very much at home!”

This Friday is a special dog-friendly showing of 23 Walks, directed by Paul Morrison and released last year.

It tells the story of a retired divorcee's romance with a fellow dog walker who she meets on the hills of Hamstead Heath.

Sunset Screening Sessions, which launched this year, is a partnership between Infinita Productions and DMovies, who have exhibiting films across the British capital since 2017.
