Low traffic neighbourhood picnic in West Greenwich One year on – where’s the traffic gone?

The debate on Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in London is a controversial one with often neighbour set against neighbour.

Residents of Blackheath Hill in West Greenwich have decided to do something different to mark the one year anniversary of the ‘Hills and Vales LTN’ by holding a picnic on Blackheath on Saturday August 21st from 2pm till 4pm and inviting their neighbours in the ‘Hills and Vales’ area.

Greenwich Council as the sponsor of the LTN has instituted an immediate review of the LTN because of concerns expressed by local emergency services on the adverse impact on their response times.

The Blackheath Hill residents have decided to hold this informal picnic to discuss with their neighbours how best to change the LTN to meet these and wider concerns about its operation over the last year.

Cllr Sarah Merrill Lead member for Transport at Greenwich will be attending the event as will local councillors from Lewisham and Greenwich.

The picnic will be held at the junction of Hyde Vale/Blackheath Hill on Saturday August 21st from 2pm to 4pm.
