A DANCE school has been presented with a plaque after raising thousands of pounds for charity.

The New Eltham Dance School, based in Hainault Street, has donated cash to the Bexley branch of the National Autistic Society for the past five years and given a total of just over £9,500.

Branch secretary Helen Sharp said: "It's a vast sum of money, which will help pay for social activities for families with a child on the autistic spectrum.

"The Bexley families would like to thank New Eltham Dance School for their kindness and support."

Money raised from selling programmes at dance concerts and profits from shows was donated to the charity.

It helped pay for Christmas parties and day trips, such as to the London Eye.

The Bexley branch of the National Autistic Society has a membership of around 120 people and meets at Sidcup Youth Centre, Burnt Oak Lane.
