Three people were stabbed, one killed and four seriously injured after a series of violence incidents hit south east London this week.

The Metropolitan Police were forced to launched multiple investigations after six separate violent incidents across south east London after an exceptionally violent seven days.

Major incidents include police being pelted with bottles and stones in Brixton following a shooting, and a 'serious' stabbing in Greenwich.

In total, one person has died and three others are classed as suffering 'life-threatening' injuries, with even a police dog sadly being stabbed.

The bloodshed over the last week comes as high levels of crime and violence in London continues to be a hot topic of debate.

A 74-year-old was murdered nside a home in New Cross in the early hours of Friday, May 28.

Police and ambulance services rushed to an address in Wild Goose Drive in Lewisham just before 5am on Friday, May 28, and found man critically injured at the scene.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the victim, a 74-year-old, sadly died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination held on Saturday, 29 May, gave cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, chest and abdomen.

Jack Forde, 23, of Wild Goose Drive, has since been charged with murder.

May 30: Police dog stabbed by mentally ill man in Orpington

A police dog was stabbed up to five times in the head as he subdued a mentally ill man in Orpington, who also broke an officer’s wrist.

Kaiser, who is “lucky to be alive”, was on patrol with handler PC Mark Woolcott at around 11pm on Sunday, May 30, when they were called to a report of an intruder in a back garden on Luxted Road.

As Kaiser tried to subdue a suspect, he was stabbed up to five times on the top of his head and once below his eye.

Despite the assault, Kaiser was able to keep control of the man for long enough to allow officers to take hold of him, and was then rushed to a vets.

May 31: Bromley South station cordoned off after staff member is 'attacked'

A teenage boy has been charged with attacking three staff members at Bromley South station in an assault which left one with knife injuries.

The 17-year-old allegedly began the assault, which was reported at 1.09pm, after being challenged over a ticket.

The main victim was treated for his injuries in hospital, which were not life-threatening. He has since been released.

The other two victims were treated at the scene, where the suspect was arrested within minutes of the attack.

A 23-year-old has been left fighting for his life after being stabbed in the face on Tuesday in Hither Green.

Officers say they were approached by a man with wounds to his face on Hither Green Lane at 7.38pm on June 1.

Police were called to Barge Walk on the Greenwich Peninsula to reports of men fighting at around 4:20pm on Wednesday.

Horrifying video later emerged of four males brawling with machetes as local residents screamed for them to stop.

One man was taken to hospital where he is fighting for his life, and Met Police today said the crime scene remains "open and active."

The incident has caused a large amount of worry locally, with police deploying additional officers and a search and stop order to quell fears.

June 2: Police 'pelted' with stones and bottles in Brixton after shooting

Firearms officers were dispatched to Moorland Road at 9.37pm on Wednesday, where they found a 25-year-old suffering both gunshot injuries and stab wounds.

Police were 'pelted' with bottles and stones by members of the public at the scene, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Superintendent Dan Ivey, who is responsible for neighbourhood policing in Lambeth and Southwark, said: “The scenes we saw last night were unacceptable.

“A shocking outburst of violence unfolded, in which a man sustained very serious injuries."
