A man from south east London has found the world’s biggest Hula Hoop - a whooping crisp almost 4in long which barely fits in the packet.

Rowan Umland, 19, from Peckham, opened up his favourite snack - a packet of salt and vinegar flavoured Hula Hoops - and was gobsmacked.

The student reckons it's the world's biggest - dwarfing the average sized snack and beating previous contenders.

Crisp lover Rowan said he has no intention of eating his rare find, and is keeping it safe in a box.

But he said he could be tempted to sell the 3.7in crisp it if the price is right.

For now he's keeping it tucked away in case Guinness World Records get wind of it.

Rowan said: "I opened the packet and it was the first thing I saw - I couldn't believe it.

"I did consider eating it for a split second because I was hungry, but I thought it might give people a laugh so I put it to one side.

"I love Hula Hoops and I've eaten hundreds of bags in my lifetime, but I've never seen anything like this before.

News Shopper:

"It's got to be one of the biggest - if not the biggest - in the world!

"I'm definitely not going to eat it, and it's being kept safely in a box - who knows who might want it one day? A collector, a museum?

"I've already had to tell my family 'hands off'!"

Rowan got the crisps from his local Sainsbury's and found the whopper on May 11.

Previous records for the biggest ever were claimed in 2014 by a 31-year-old man who found a 3in long tube and put it on eBay.

In 2019 an eight-year-old lad beat it, with a 3in crisp he found in a bag he was munching as an after school snack.
