A MUM has alerted parents on social media about a terrifying abduction attempt on her child in Beckenham last week.

The mother issued a warning online after three men reportedly followed her son, thought to be 11-years-old, on the way home from school on Croydon Road at around 4 pm on Friday ( April 30 ).

Sharing a post on Instagram, Ms Blackman said: "Two hooded men on foot and another in a car attempted to abduct my son on his way home from school.

"They chased him into the park  [ Croydon Road Recreation Ground ] but he ran into the basketball courts for two older teenagers for help, the men then dissapeared."

In the caption, the mother went onto say that she thought "long and hard"  about sharing the post.

"Our son maybe shaken up but he is safe at home with us," she added.

"I don't want any parent to be posting about their missing child in the coming days/weeks/months! So I'm raising the alarm."

The mum described the suspects as white males, wearing hoodies and masks. One suspect was thought to be driving a black car.

News Shopper contacted Met Police for comment.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16.40hrs on Friday, 30 April to reports of two males acting suspiciously in Whitmore Road, Beckenham.

"Officers arranged to take a statement from the complainant. No suspects were identified.

"The investigation has been closed; an intelligence report was recorded and should any further evidential opportunities arise this decision will be reviewed."
