A man has been left with life changing injuries following an alleged hammer attack in Erith town centre.
The assault reportedly happened on Pier Road on Sunday, April 25, with the victim being rushed to a major trauma unit as a priority.
Another man has since been arrested by police on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Police said they were called alongside the London Ambulance Service to an address on Pier Road in Erith, south east London, at 5:15pm on April 25 following reports of an assault.
Officers attending the scene found a man, aged 39, suffering from a head injury.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as non life-threatening, but are life-changing.
The LAS sent a ambulance crew and medic to deal with the incident.
Police added that a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Inquiries are ongoing.
