Two men have been arrested after suspected car thieves were stopped in Dartford Tunnel following a police chase.
Kent Police said two men from the Walthamstow area of London were taken into custody on Monday, April 19.
A Range Rover was reported stolen from a property in Capstone Road in Chatham at around 9:25pm.
The stolen vehicle was located by officers just 15 minutes later in Hallsfield Road.
But a silver Volkswagen Passat, which was parked next to the empty Range Rover, is said to have been driven away upon the arrival of patrols.
Suspecting the VW's movements as suspicous, officers conducted a search and located it travelling on the Londonbound A2 at around 10:15pm.
A pursuit was authorised and, around seven minutes later, the suspect vehicle stopped in the Dartford Tunnel.
Two men, aged 37 and 39 and from the Walthamstow area of London, were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody.
Due to the need to conduct further investigative work, both have since been released pending further investigation.
