London Bridge station was evacuated this afternoon following reports of a suspicious item on a train.

Officers were called to the station at 12.33pm, which was closed as a precaution while specialist officers assessed the item.

The station was reopened at around 1.50pm after the item was assessed as non-suspicions.

Trains were prevented from stopping at the station for a period, instead being terminated early or diverted.

Footage from the scene showed queues of police vehicles outside as crowds waited on the pavement.

One passenger described being told to evacuate the station by tannoy.
