SAILORS paid tribute to Prince Philip on Saturday in a mark of respect as his funeral began.
Shipmates of the Harwich and District branch of the Royal Naval Association paraded their branch standard on Saturday.
The standard was dipped at 3pm as Great Britain marked the Duke of Edinburgh’s life with a nationwide minute’s silence.
Following the silence a traditional tot, or shot, of rum was raised to bid farewell to a former, and much revered, shipmate.
