Deptford councillors were left “shocked and appalled” after a 15-year-old girl was gang-raped in Pepys Park.

Police are yet to make any arrests following the disturbing incident, which took place on March 22 at around 4.30pm.

Evelyn Ward councillors Caroline Kalu, Silvana Kelleher and Lionel Openshaw have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

In a joint statement they said: “We are all shocked and appalled by this brutal attack on a young woman in Pepys Park.

“We are supporting the police with their investigation and would urge anyone with any information to come forward and contact the police on 101, and quote CAD: 7933/01APR21, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 immediately.”

The victim got off a bus and walked towards the park, where she sat on a bench near the football cages.

She was approached by one boy, then two others who stole her phone, before all three pinned down and raped her.

Boy one is described as black, aged approximately 16/17, with no facial hair.

He was wearing a blue beanie, a black ‘Kings Will Dream’ coat with fur around the hood and black and grey trainers. He also has silver caps on two of his teeth.

Boy two is described as a lighter skinned black boy, age approximately 16/17, with two earrings, one stud in each ear lobe.

He had a high-top hairstyle with slight stubble. He was wearing a black Zavetti, knee-length coat with a yellow and red brand mark on the sleeve.

Boy three is described as a lighter skinned black boy, age approximately 16/17, wearing a du-rag. He had a black coat and black tracksuit bottoms on.

A Lewisham Council spokesperson said: “We are shocked by this incident and will support the Police with this ongoing investigation.

“The Council continues to work with Lewisham Police on all matters of community safety and we would urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward.”
