Police are seeking an “important witness” who intervened to assist the victim of an assault in Gravesend town centre.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was reportedly assaulted on Peacock Street, close to the junction with St Andrew’s Road, by two men at around 8.50am on Wednesday, March 17.

A member of the public witnessed the assault taking place and intervened to assist the victim, who was taken to hospital for treatment to a cut to their head.

Officers have reviewed a number of lines of enquiry while they continue to build the case, but are yet to hear from the person who assisted the injured man.
