Hundreds of teddy bears ensured pupils returning to one Bexleyheath primary school had a welcome return yesterday.
The surprise furry gifts were waiting on each child's desk when they arrived back at Brampton Primary Academy for the first time since before Christmas and caused a buzz amongst the school.
The school's PTA, called Friends of Brampton, donated the 380 teddies for children returning on Monday.
Headteacher Zara Winter-Nolan said that at 8:40am, "the children’s cheers and chatter could be heard all along the corridors.
"Not only were they delighted to receive their bears, the children were pleased to catch-up with their teachers and friends after so many weeks apart.
"We know it is going to take time for children nationally to recover academically from the impact of the pandemic but also socially and emotionally and the bears are just one of the ways our school community intends to support the pupils at Brampton."
