A social enterprise which helped with the major redesign of an East Lancashire park have been appointed as landscape and planning consultants for Growth Lancashire.

Newground, which is based in Blackburn but operates out of sites all across the region, was appointed to lead the urban designs team, which will help deliver landscaping services in the public and private sectors across the borough.

Newground’s landscape and estate services director, Steve Greenwood, said: “Following a robust evaluation and open tendering process, we are delighted to be an approved contractor to deliver landscape services across the county.

“We already have excellent relationships with businesses, local authorities, registered social landlords, schools and community enterprises in the borough but are looking forward to strengthening our links and extending our networks.

“With 36 years’ experience between them, our team of landscape architects have a wealth of impressive projects under their belts but are excited about the opportunities the framework will bring to increase their portfolios even further.”

Newground work closely with clients to provide professional landscape design services from inception through to completion, and can help with planning applications, design guidance and feasibility studies.

Services include masterplanning, woodlands, allotments, parks, play areas, community gardens, cycle ways, pump tracks, urban design, arts projects, waterfront improvements and neighbourhood developments.

Previous projects include the redesign of Rhyddings Park in Oswaldtwistle in collaboration with Hyndburn Borough Council and the Friends of Rhyddings Park, and Newground also recently helped Waterfoot Primary School in Rossendale realise their vision of an outdoor learning space for forest school education.
