A series of drug-related arrests and seizures have been made across south east London in the past week, involving raids, firearms, a cannabis factory and drugs hidden in underpants.

Met Police have been involved in at least five drugs-related operations or incidents in the since the weekend, primarily in Bexley and Greenwich.

At leasts four arrests and two charges have taken place across locations such as Thamesmead, Belvedere, Charlton, and Abbey Wood, with Class A and B drugs, money and a firearm seized by officers.

The first incident took place on Monday, February 22, when officers from Thamesmead East, Thamesmead Moorings and Belvedere SNT were conducting proactive patrols when they encountered a male acting suspiciously in Ruskin Road, Belvedere.

The male, aged 18, quickly became aggressive and was detained and searched under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs act.

The search proved negative, but the male was found in possession of a large quantity of cash which was not consistent with his lifestyle.

The male was detained for a further search where he was found in possession of a large quantity of Class A drugs which was kept in his underpants. The substance has now been tested and proved to be cocaine.

He was swiftly arrested on suspicion of intent to supply Class A drugs, and was taken to a South London police station.

Further search powers were granted and a search of his home address revealed a firearm, and the male was then further arrested for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

On Tuesday, Thamesmead East Police led a 'road traffic operation' in Abbey Wood to catch a male linked to drug supply.

With officers from Belvedere and Thamesmead Moorings on Yarnton Road/Alsike Road, the male was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Bexley MPS called it "great joint working" leading to the "successful traffic operation."

In Woolwich, police executed an early morning warrant over suspected drug offences.

MPS Charlton, along with MPS Shooters Hill, MPS Woolwich Common and the Met's Integrated Enforcement Team, drugs were found and the person responsible "dealt with."

Last week, officers also busted a cannabis factory in Belvedere after storming the address and discovering 73 illegal plants growing upstairs in a bedroom.

Police then surrounded the area, and were able to track a white male in his 20s who had tried to flee the scene.

Finally, officers in Slade Green and North End have carried out plain-clothed patrols as well as uniformed patrols focusing on 'drug hotspot areas' as identified by residents.

During the operation today (Feb 23), there were four positive drug searches, and a quantity of cannabis was seized.
