Forecasters have predicted unseasonably warm temperatures this weekend, with warnings of a “pollen explosion” across London and the southeast of England.
The Met Office is currently suggesting temperatures in Celsius will sit around the low 10s for much of the next week, with 14C forecast for the Greater London area on Saturday (February 20) and even 15C next Wednesday (February 24).
Forecasters have said in some parts of the country temperatures may even push as high as 17C.
But experts are saying the unseasonably warm weather could lead to woes for people suffering from pollen allergies.
Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg told the Telegraph: "If we get weather that’s warmer than normal for the time of year this could create a mini pollen bomb with flurries of alder, hazel, elm and willow pollen exploding into the air."
"This would make a very early start to the hay fever season, so sufferers should ensure they’re adequately prepared."
According to the Met Office, Saturday will see “dry and rather cloudy for eastern areas, although some brighter spells could develop.
“Cloudier further west with outbreaks of rain likely, but still many places will remain dry. Breezy. Mild. Maximum temperature 15 °C.”
For Sunday through to Tuesday, forecasters said: “Sunday patchy rain gradually fading away. Monday dull with further spells of rain likely.
“Tuesday perhaps rain for western areas, dry and brighter further east. Mild, becoming very mild Tuesday.”
