The coronavirus testing site at Sidcup House has been forced to close today because of the snowy weather conditions, but the remaining sites are battling on despite and freezing temperatures.
Bexley Council announced this morning that the Sidcup Covid-19 test site is closed for the rest of Tuesday, February 9 due to adverse weather conditions.
If you have a test booked at Sidcup House you should book another appointment at a different location, which can be done here.
But all other testing sites in the borough remain open, with the council tweeting that vaccination centres succesfully manage to deliver a full set of jabs yesterday.
These include sites on Erith Road, Bexleyheath, Felixstowe Road in Abbey Wood and at Manor House in Sidcup.
Vaccination sites have newly been added to the list of priority areas for gritters along with primary distribution roads, schools, hospitals and emergency service bases and high streets.
There has been some #snow. In places a fair but, in others not much. Before social media explodes with 'the council hasnt gritted', it has been for several weeks (when the forecast gets dodgy). There is a set route, which now also covers #vaccine centres. @LBofBexley https://t.co/rAbcQhjdKp

And gritters have been busy, covering 280 miles of road in Bromley and depositing 292 tones of salt across 145 miles in Bexley.
Thanks to @LBofBexley @SercoESUK crews who are returning to base after completing another gritting run which began at 2am. That means there’ve been 8 runs since Sunday morning depositing 292 tonnes of salt across 145 miles of carriageway each time + shopping areas salted by hand. pic.twitter.com/Bc0XViVL9C

Bin collections have also been badly hit in both Bexley and Greenwich, with crews forced to wait until the snow and ice passes before continuing with waste collections.
Due to current weather conditions, Greenwich and Charlton cemeteries will also be closed to vehicle access for the next couple of days but are still accessible on foot.
