A dog was left with a serious head injury and needed surgery to remove her left eye after she was hit by a van in Lambeth on New Year's Eve.
Police are now appealing for witnesses of the horrific hit-and-run incident.
Met Police said the dog’s owner was walking the nine-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, called Angel, on a lead on the north end of Croxted Road in Lambeth, at approximately 11:15pm on December 31, 2020.
Angel was suddenly struck by a van and dragged approximately 50 metres along the road.
Both the dog and her owner were wearing hi-viz jackets, and the van driver did not stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Norwood Road.
The dog suffered a serious head injury and required surgery to remove her left eye.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage of the incident or vehicle.
