Uber is offering a huge discount for people who need to head to Hertfordshire’s Covid-19 vaccination centre.

Robertson House in Stevenage was one of the seven vaccination centres to open up and serve thousands of residents across Hertfordshire, as well as some neighbouring counties like Essex and Cambridgeshire.

However, its location in the northern Hertfordshire town can be difficult to get to for many people in the county.

Now ride-hailing operator Uber is offering to cover £15 of passengers’ trips to the mass-vaccination centres.

While this would not be enough to cover the full cost for people in Watford and surrounding areas, it could nearly half the journey’s cost when using the service.

To claim the ride:

1) Tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’.

2) Select ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom

3) Use the code: ‘UberUKRH’

4) Order a ride either starting at the centre, or ending at the centre

There are individual promo codes for each vaccination centre, if you are travelling to the other centres visit: uber.com/en-GB/blog/vaccinations for a list of the other promo codes.

Trips can be claimed between January 18 and February 28, and the promotion is only valid for the first 4,000 riders per promo code.

In a message sent out to all Uber customers, the company said: “We are committed to helping as many people as possible receive a vaccination during this critical time.

“That’s why we are covering a trip up to £15, for anyone travelling to or from one of the original seven mass-vaccination centres.”

Uber is also working with Age UK to identify areas within its network of local charities where free round trips can be covered by Uber.

NHS workers will also continue to have 25 per cent off all trips during this time.
