THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across the south of England this week, including London.

Forecasters are warning that heavy rain showers may lead to travel disruption and flooding in places.

The weather warning is in place from midnight on Wednesday until 3am on Thursday.

It comes after flooding in the past week which caused disruptions on roads and railways and flooded some homes across the country.

It follows "hazardous" conditions and forecasts of snow last week, which caused problems for the ambulance service in Yorkshire, which struggled to keep up with the high demand, while Covid vaccinations were also affected.

Mark Millins, of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said the bad weather was having a "severe impact" on its operations and urged people to "take extra care" when out walking or driving.

The deepest snow on Thursday was in Bingley, West Yorkshire, and Strathallan in Perth, Scotland, both of which recorded 11cm.
