A MUCH-LOVED Southend business has used the wonders of technology to launch its own television channel during lockdown – reaching viewers across the world.

Teddy Station has been forced to shut its doors to customers due to Covid-19 regulations in the fight against the spread of coronavirus.

But the owners of the business, Steve and Babs Kohler, have launched Teddy Station TV on Sea to allow them to continue interacting with their customers.

Teddy Station TV on Sea hosts bingo events exclusive to Teddy Club members and has also welcomed high profile guests from the industry onto the show.

Steve is pleased with how his regular customers have backed Teddy Station’s new venture in these testing times.

He said: “We go to Potters Holiday Camp quite often and they gave us inspiration to start our own television channel after they started streaming to their guests.

“I looked into it and we now stream our live shows onto our Facebook and YouTube channels.

“It’s been a great way for us to still interact with our regular customers when the shop is shut because of the pandemic.

William Morris, owner of worldwide company Charlie Bears, has also featured on the show.

Steve, who has been in charge of Teddy Station alongside wife Babs for 12 years, admits it has been difficult to keep the business afloat due to the effects of Covid-19.

The 64-year-old added: “It’s been incredibly tough because our turnover has gone down significantly.

“It’s like treading water to try and keep ourselves going.

“We’re doing all we can and we’re hoping for more positive times in the future.”
