Dozens of elderly patients queued for hours in freezing cold temperatures outside a Forest Hill coronavirus vaccination centre.

Video footage shows a lengthy line of vulnerable people snaking around the block outside the Jenner Practice, Stanstead Road, on Friday afternoon.

Staff were unable to treat people quickly enough, meaning a lengthy backlog developed, despite patients having been given individual time slots.

Black cab driver Allen Simmons, 47, who filmed the footage, took 101-year-old Les Parker to the centre.

The war veteran left-unvaccinated, after being told there was a three hour wait.

A spokesperson for NHS SELCCG since said more staff have been recruited for the Jenner Health Centre and that those who missed out on a vaccination Friday due to the queues would receive one next week:

"This was early on the first day of our new programme and we have now already increased the number of staff giving vaccinations along with asking patients to arrive no more than 5 minutes before their slot," a spokesperson said.

"We will be contacting the small number of patients who had an appointment yesterday and weren’t vaccinated to ensure they are seen this week."
