An 80-tonne “mountain” of rubbish was dumped on the grounds of a Chislehurst gym closed during lockdown.

Keith Perry spotted the opportunistic fly-tip on the premises of Nuffield Health in Chislehurst last week.

The site, which was broken into, has since been secured with new locks, with Nuffield working to clear the sprawling mess with the support of specialist contractors.

Mr Perry said: "I imagine it will cost thousands to move. The gym now has much stronger chains on the gate.

"I spoke to the gym and they said it must have happened while the gum was closed for lockdown.

"It must have happened last week as I walk past the gym every day walking my dog and it has only appeared recently."

A Nuffield Health spokesperson said: “The security of our Fitness and Wellbeing Centres is a priority. Whilst we always ensure our sites are secure as a matter of course, we were recently made aware of a break-in and fly tipping at our Nuffield Health Chislehurst grounds.

“However, having immediately re-secured the site the locks we put in place were cut and additional rubbish was dumped.

“Having resecured the site once again we continue to do our upmost as a priority to clear the rubbish, which is estimated to be 80 tonnes-worth, with specialist contractors.”
