A DELIGHTED family intend to make a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand after winning thousands of pounds on a TV quiz show.

Michael Baah, 34, and the Mills family claimed £10,000 after a successful appearance on ITV’s Family Fortunes.

The family appeared in the show which was broadcast on Sunday.

Michael was joined by girlfriend Kate Mills, her mum, Gill, and two dads John Mills and Bradley Mace.

And despite being a life-long fan of the show, Michael - who lives in Blackheath in Colchester with Kate and Gill - insisted nerves didn’t get in the way.

“We all had a great time and I think we worked quite well as a team.” he said.

“I’ve done quite a bit of work with TV before as I’’m a personal trainer for celebrities but it was weird being on Family Fortunes because I grew up watching it as a kid.

“I would always sit down with my parents and watch it on a Saturday night.

“We could have won £30,000 in the end but got the last question wrong. To be honest, we would have been happy to walk away with nothing because it was just great to be on there.”

He added: “We’ve split the winnings equally and have spent it on flights to New Zealand.

“Kate’s brother Jacob is graduating there next year so we’re all hoping we can get over there to see it.”

Filming for the programme actually took place back in the first lockdown last year.

Michael and his team had to sign non-disclosure agreements, meaning they were unable to talk about it to anyone until it was aired.

But Michael says most of his family and friends are now aware about it following a comical exchange during the show which has since gone viral on the internet.

He added: “The people who run the show told me there’s a particular clip when I was asked what the most used emoji was which is now all over the internet. I answered aubergine which obviously has a different meaning.

“Apparently my face is popping up everywhere now so half the world probably knows I was on Family Fortunes.”
