The power was cut and trains halted through Lee station this afternoon (Saturday, December 12) after an an emergency services "incident" at the station.

National Rail and train operators South Eastern both reported severe disruption and delays to trains in the area running through Lee as authorities dealt with the incident, which was initially reported around 3pm.

The line between Hither Green and Sidcup was blocked earlier in the day and rail users continued to face delays into Saturday evening.

A spokesperson for National Rail said:

"Emergency services were dealing with an incident at Lee station which meant that the line was blocked between Hither Green and Dartford via Sidcup in both directions.

"The incident has now been dealt with, the lines have reopened, and trains are on the move."

On Twitter, South Eastern rail operators added that the power had been "cut" at Lee Station but failed to specify why:

"There was an incident at Lee station which required the power to be turned off.

"Emergency services have now dealt with is and trains are on the move again. Sorry for any delay to your journey this afternoon," a spokesperson said.

London Ambulance Service and British Transport Police were contacted for comment.
