The moment a blanket of fog rolled over the capital last night has been captured by Londoners, with the murky conditions continuing into the morning.
The thick sea of fog swept over London in the late hours of Thursday, November 26, blocking out sky scrapers and obscuring roads and parks.
Temperatures also plunged, below freezing in other parts of the UK, and the Met Office were forced to release a yellow weather warning for fog.
And residents have been sharing photos of the unusual weather, with footage of The Shard showing the city nearly enveloped at around 3am last night.
Locally, Twitter user @bigohcoaching managed to capture these stunning shots of Blythe Hill in Lewisham.
Some of the fog had disappeared by 9am this morning, though murky conditions have remained until around midday.
Fog warnings were issued by the Met Office overnight, running through to this morning along with warnings of travel disruption.
In their latest update, weather forecast said it was a mixed picture for this afternoon, with "low cloud and fog lingering for some, keeping it cold."
"It is a fog sandwich today, as two weather fronts sit to the north and south of the UK, with fog patches in between.
"Here is the latest view from space Satellite."
