Police are appealing for witnesses after a violent crash by the Blackwall Tunnel in Greenwich has left one of the drivers hospitalised.

Police said at around 8:20am on Monday, October 26, a HGV collided with a car on the A102 northbound at the Blackwall Tunnel South Approach in Greenwich.

The car subsequently collided with a second lorry, and was left looking severely damaged.

Officers, the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service all attended the scene, and the driver of the lorry also stopped at the scene.

The driver of the car was taken by the LAS to an east London hospital and he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.

Met Police are now urging witnesses and anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

It was also reported that an off-duty police officer and a nurse were luckily at the scene and able to provide first aid before firefighters arrived.

The LFB then cut a man from the car, and he was taken to hospital by LAS crews.

Police are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dash cam.

Anyone with information is asked to email the Met’s Prosecutions Team quoting reference Cad 1307/26Oct.
