October saw criminals jailed for an array of offences in south east London, ranging from fraud to the attempted murder of a prison guard.

We've summarised five noteworthy cases below:

Delroy Samuels

News Shopper:

Samuels, 39, was detained after being seen with a knife inside an Ashford supermarket late on August 26.

Witnesses said he had been arguing with a woman before taking a knife from his pocket and forcing the blade into a cardboard DVD display stand.

The knife was not located by attending officers, but Samuels was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly after making threats to kill officers.

After he was put in a police car to be taken to custody, he repeatedly tried to bite an officer and spat in their face.

Reuben Thomas

News Shopper:

Fraudster Reuben Thomas, 29, was jailed after using other people's bank cards to buy himself mobile phones and other high value items.

The court heard how Thomas had bought high value items and had them delivered to addresses not linked to him.

He is said to have then driven to the addresses and got young women to collect the packages, claiming they had been misdelivered.

On September 19, Reuben was caught red-handed when he targeted an address in Snodland and was arrested.

Thomas of Grierson Road, appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on October 19, where he admitted conspiracy to commit fraud and possession of articles with intent to commit fraud.

He was jailed for two years and six months.

Phillip Anderson

News Shopper:

Phillip Anderson, 41, was sentenced to two years and 10 months after admitting possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.

Officers searching his car found wraps of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis, along with a knife disguised as a torch.

The next month he was pulled over again by police officers patrolling the Dartford area.

Anderson came to their attention at around 9:55pm when driving onto the A206 Crossways, and police requested he stop the vehicle.

He continued on driving until 'controlled contact' was made with his car to ensure it stopped.

Anderson quickly got out and tried to run away, but was arrested after a short foot chase.

Shaquille Moore

News Shopper:

Shaquille Moore, 27, of Penge, sold 16+ Zip Oyster photocards through social media to over 18s under the alias ‘Ben Franklin.’

Moore offered his customers the service of falsifying documents with fake dates of births to create Oyster accounts online.

Upon TfL prosecuting fraudulent cardholders, a number of them wrote to TfL to explain how and where they purchased the Oyster photocards.

It was found that the money for the photocards was being sent to bank accounts in Shaquille Moore’s name.

He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison at London Crown Court on August 28 where he pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.

Brusthom Ziamani

News Shopper:

Brusthom Ziamani, 25, is already five years into a 19-year sentence for a 2014 plot to behead a soldier in south east London.

He and fellow Muslim convert Baz Hockton, 26, who was radicalised in jail, launched a terror attack at maximum security HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire on January 9.

Prison officer Neil Trundle was left covered in blood after he was targeted by the pair armed with makeshift bladed weapons and wearing fake suicide belts as they shouted: "Allahu Akbar".

Ziamani would have been eligible for parole in 2027 but the judge, Mrs Justice May, handed him a life sentence and said he must serve at least 21 years
