ALL lines are currently blocked between Rainham and Gravesend as a man has been spotted standing on the wall of a bridge at Gillingham Station today.

Kent Police were called at around 8.40am following concerns for the welfare of a man in Gillingham town centre.

This morning, Southeastern and Railway Thameslink both tweeted that the electricity supply has temporarily been switched off as a health and safety precaution due to the incident.

A statement from Thameslink said: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident on a bridge over the railway at Gillingham Kent which means all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised."

A shuttle service will be put in place between London Victoria and Rochester via Bromley South, and between London Victoria and Strood via Gravesend.

Passengers can also expect a shuttle service to be put in place between Gravesend and Dartford.

Passengers travelling to London from Gillingham / Chatham or Rochester have been advised to travel to Strood and use services from there.

Those affected can use high speed services from Ebbsfleet international to London St Pancras International at no extra cost.

Update: Police have since confirmed the man is safe.
