Two men have sadly died after a major crash on the motorway in north Kent yesterday afternoon saw a flatbed van collide with a lorry.

A third man from the same vehicle is currently fighting for his life in a London hospital, and collision investigators are now appealing for information and witnesses of the fatal collision.

In a statement, Kent Police said at around 1pm, Thursday, October 15, a red LDV Maxus flatbed van with three people inside was travelling coastbound on the carriageway of the M26.

Before they reached junction 2A near Wrotham, the van was "involved in a collision with a grey DAF articulated lorry."

Police said two of the occupants of the van died, both men from the Maidstone area aged in their 20s and 40s.

A third man from the same vehicle was taken to a London hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances and officers are appealing for any witnesses to get in contact.

They would also like to obtain dash cam footage that shows the vehicles travelling along the M26 and also in the moments leading up to the collision.
