An assistant pharmacist in Earlsfield was singled out for “excellent customer service” and “patient care” in a community award.

Ana Monterio received the Recognition of Excellence Award in the Retail Skills category for her passion and dedication to the community.

Organised by Training Matters, a UK magazine for pharmacy teams, the annual award recognises the achievements of key healthcare workers.

An employee at Earlsfield Pharmacy, on Garratt Lane, Ana goes to great lengths to understand the needs of her customer base and boost her knowledge of minor ailments and over-the-counter medicines.

She won the award for encouraging significant increases in retail sales and upping the profile of her pharmacy in the area.

The pharmacy group tweeted their support:

Usually, finalists would receive their trophies at a lunch event in central London, but this was not possible due to the Government’s social distancing guidelines.

Instead, Ana received a special delivery to her pharmacies - including a trophy, certificate, poster and hamper.

Commenting on the RoE Awards, editor of Training Matters and Awards host Helena Beer said:

“It’s been a real pleasure to run these awards again in 2020. This year we had a record number of entries, all with amazing stories to tell. Our finalists represent the best of community pharmacy and I’m thrilled to be able to reward these individuals for their hard work, dedication and passion for helping the people in their communities live better and healthier lives.”

They really do make a difference, especially during such worrying times as we’re living through, and they deserve to be celebrated and recognised for all that they do.”
