A man has been charged with murder of a 33-year-old who was stabbed to death at an illegal silent disco in Catford.

Sean Williams was fatally injured at the unlicensed music event on Culverley Road in the early hours of September 6.

Sanjay Lawrence, 38, from Brockley was charged with murder yesterday, having previously been charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to a different man during the same incident.

He is next due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 25 November.

At the opening of an inquest into Mr Williams’s death, which has been suspended, deputy senior coroner Henrietta Hill said his immediate cause of death was an "incised wound to the neck".

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to nearby Thornsbeach Road to reports of a stabbing, and Mr Williams, of Arnulf Street, died at the scene shortly after 6.15am.

A 37-year-old man self-presented at a south London hospital with a knife wound to the hand. His injuries were not life-threatening.
