A motorist who was forcefully pulled over by police in Dartford and caught after a foot chase has been jailed after being found in possession of drugs and a knife.

Phillip Anderson was sentenced to two years and 10 months at Maidstone Crown Court on October 1 after admitting possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.

The 41-year-old of Wishing Tree Road North, St Leonards-On-Sea, also admitted to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a knife in a public place.

The jail time follows two incidents in Kent committed in 2018 on October 9 and November 16 respectively.

In the first incident, Anderson was stopped by officers on the A21 in Lamberhurst.

Officers searching his car found wraps of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis, along with a knife disguised as a torch.

The next month, the 41-year-old was pulled over again by police officers patrolling the Dartford area.

Anderson came to their attention at around 9:55pm when driving onto the A206 Crossways, and police requested he stop the vehicle.

But he continued on driving until 'controlled contact' was made with his car to ensure it stopped.

Anderson quickly got out and tried to run away, but was arrested after a short foot chase.

During a search of the vehicle officers found a small quantity of cannabis as well as a flick knife. He was arrested and later charged with the offences.

As well as being jailed the judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs and weapons.

Investigating officer PC Marcel Bibi said: "On both occasions Anderson was found in possession of drugs and knives and this is not acceptable behaviour.

"I hope his sentence acts as a deterrent to others."
