A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of raping a young woman in a Lewisham park.

Police were called to Forster Memorial Park on Friday, September 18, following a report that a woman had been raped at approximately 7pm.

The woman, in her early twenties, continues to be supported by specialist officers.

It is believed the victim and the attacker were known to each other.

Officers would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of the park at the time and who may have seen or heard something suspicious.

Detective Constable Vincent CS Chan, from the South East Command Unit, said: “We’re particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who may have witnessed the attack.

"We believe they could have vital information about what happened.”

The 16-year-old has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
