ARMED police dealt with an incident in a residential street.

Residents overheard officers shouting "we are armed and we will use force" as they approached a house in Ingham Drive, Coldean at about 2.30pm.

A large number of emergency services teams were scrambled to the street, with officers carrying guns alongside a dog unit and ambulance crews.

A police helicopter also hovered overhead.

The Argus:

Mason Locke, who lives nearby and watched as the incident unfolded, said: "We don’t know what is happening but there are three incident response ambulance vans, four marked police cars and two unmarked.

"(There are also) currently two armed police units and one police dog unit outside the house at the Hawkhurst Road end of lngham Drive.

The Argus:

"They are shouting, 'Come to the door, I am armed'."

By 3.10pm, most emergency teams had left the scene with only two police cars remaining in the road.

However, the police helicopter was seen circling low above the London Road area of Brighton between 3.10pm and 3.40pm.

It is not yet known if the two incidents are linked.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
