Police have released pictures of 17 dogs confirmed or suspected as stolen which were seized in an armed raid on a St Mary Cray traveller site.

The activity in the early hours of Wednesday followed months of work by local police gathering evidence and so far six people have been arrested over offences related to drugs, stolen goods and burglary.

Officers are looking to reunite the dogs, which are range of breeds and ages, with their owners.

A spokesperson for Bromley MPS tweeted: "Following the recent police operation in Orpington, a series of dogs have been found & confirmed or suspected to be stolen.

"If you know any of these four legged friends please get in contactand share, share, share please."

The raid, involving hundreds of officers, is one of the biggest armed operations run by the Metropolitan Police this year.

Officers used distraction techniques before they swooped on the site on Star Lane.

Residents were awoken by "loud bangs" and sirens as armed cops led one of the Met's biggest operations this year.

One man thought the army had been called in, while a woman, who did not want to give her name, thought it was an alien visitation.

Investigators are spending around two days searching the 22-pitch site, following intelligence about where guns might be hidden.

If you recognise any of the dogs, call Call 101 and quote Op Medusa.
