The number of reported crimes in Bromley has increased this summer - compared to last.

Anti-social behaviour, violence and sexual offences and drug offences all saw an increase.

In comparison to the same period last year, overall crime reports in the county have increased from 5,147 in 2019 to 5,416 in 2020, according to the latest police statistics.

The graph shows how many crimes were reported in June and July 2019 compared to the same period this year.

From the data it is clear to see that anti-social behaviour saw a massive spike and the number of reported offenses rose by nearly double.

One of the factors potentially impacting this rise could be that pubs and bars were reopened from July 4, after being closed for more than three months.

Similarly, public order offences also saw an increase. Reports remained at a moderately high level with numbers increasing only slightly.

The number of reported violence and sexual offences has maintained at a high rate with a slight increase of just over 30 reports compared to last year.

Whereas, burglary has seen a dramatic decline of more than 50 per cent compared to last summer. This could be due to more of us working from home and leaving the house less.

Shoplifting has declined by 25 per cent. Potentially because of covid shopping restrictions and less people frequenting stores in the area.

The number of reported bicycle thefts remained low but did see a slight increase in comparison to last year.
