A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found inside a residential address in Bexley last night (September 8).

The 66-year-old was found collapsed at an address in Becketts Close, and the death is being treated as suspicious.

Met Police said a man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.


Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman is leading the murder investigation.

He said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation, we have arrested a man and our enquiries continue at a pace.

“Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this sad time. I urge anyone who has information, but has not yet come forward, to get in touch without delay.”

Police and London Ambulance Service said they were called to Becketts Close in Bexley at around 9:50pm on Tuesday, September 8.

The victim, a 66-year-old woman, was found collapsed at the address, and paramedics declared her dead at the scene.

In a statement, police added: "The death is being treated as suspicious. Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

"Next of kin are aware.

"A man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.

"The man and the woman are believed to be known to each other."
