A BOY was killed when he was knocked off his bike by a car last night.
The teenager, who was cycling with another child, suffered serious head injuries when he was involved in a collision with an Alfa Romeo near Skelton, at 8.20pm on Sunday, September 6.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "The incident occurred on Stanghow Road near Skelton when the boy, who was cycling with another child, was in collision with a dark coloured Alfa Romeo Mito.
"The boy suffered serious head injuries and tragically he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends and a specially trained officer has been appointed to support them at this extremely difficult time."
A man in his late 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.
Accident investigators want to speak to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, particularly any driver who may have dash cam footage from along Stanghow Road at around 8.20pm on Sunday night.
The spokesperson added: "We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been overtaken by a dark Alfa Romeo on Stanghow Road."
