BRIGHTON residents are set for some respite from the rain this week.

Storm Francis battered the city with high winds and heavy rain to round off August, with grey clouds and cold temperatures remaining last week.

But conditions are set to be far more favourable over the next few days, the Met Office has forecast, with the chance of precipitation never rising above 10 per cent.

The days will be relatively warm, with temperatures staying between 17C and 21C between 10am and 7pm.

These will peak on Wednesday, with thermometers sitting at or above the 20C mark between 1pm and 7pm.

A Met Office spokesman said the UK would be “often cloudy with some rain and drizzle in western areas” but the “sheltered east” would enjoy bright and sunny conditions.
