A crash between a car and a lorry on the M25 at the Dartford Tunnel and a broken down crane are causing severe disruption and more than an hour delays for drivers.
The West bore of the Dartford Tunnel was forced to close around 11:30am (September 4) following a road traffic collision, according to Kent CC Highways.
The incident happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 inside the tunnel, closing two lanes along with the left-hand tunnel.
All traffic were forced to use the East Bore Tunnel, with queues quickly stretching back to J2 of the M25.
Then, at 1:45pm, the right hand tunnel at the Dartford Crossing was closed due to a broken down crane, causing further traffic chaos.
Police, Highways England officers and ambulance services have attended the scene.
Highways England said: "Please be aware that there are long delays on approach to Dartford Crossing. Average journey times are now well over an hour above normal travel time for this time of day.
"Congestion is back to J4 of the M25 anti-clockwise."
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.32am on September 4 to a report of collision involving a car and a lorry inside a tunnel at the Dartford Crossing.
"No serious injuries are believed to have been reported."
Update: As of 2pm, the West bore Dartford Tunnel has reopened, but long delays remain.
